辅音接元音：两个词连成一个
Consonant to vowel linking
前一个词以辅音结尾、后一个词以元音开头，两个词就连成一个读，中间不停。这是英语口语里最常见的连读，也是很多人「单词都认识、句子听不出」的头号原因。
规则
In fluent English, when one word ends in a consonant sound and the next word begins in a vowel sound, we link the two sounds together without a pause in between them.
an egg 是两个词，可母语者说出来听上去像一个词 anegg：前面的 n 直接滑到后面的 e 上，中间没有停顿。
看的是「音」，不是字母。have 拼写以 e 结尾，但读音以 /v/ 结尾，所以 have it 照样连成 ha-vit；hour 拼写以 h 开头，但读音以元音开头，所以 an hour 也连。
例句：点 ▶ 听原声，跟着读

He's holding an egg.
他拿着一个鸡蛋。
So, an egg becomes an egg.
所以 an egg 就读成了 anegg。
He's in the garden.
他在花园里。
I used to believe in Father Christmas, but not anymore.
我以前相信有圣诞老人，现在不信了。
I had to give up jogging.
我只好不跑步了。
He had it in his office.
他把它放在办公室里。
It is a hard-boiled egg, isn't it?
这是个煮老的鸡蛋，对吧？
Alex 提示：听不清一句话时，先别怀疑单词量，找找句子里「辅音 + 元音」的接口：give up、had it、not anymore……接口处就是连读。自己说的时候也一样：别一个词一个词地蹦，把前一个词的尾音直接推到后一个词上。
