was / were 的弱读
How do fluent speakers say 'was, were'?
was 单独念是 /wɒz/，were 是 /wɜː/。在句子里不重读时，元音都弱化成 /ə/：was 读 /wəz/，were 读 /wə/，轻得几乎听不见。
规则
When the word 'was' is unstressed, the vowel sound changes to a schwa. So 'was' becomes /wəz/, and also 'were' becomes /wə/. These are called weak forms.
过去进行时 I was watching、We were having 里，was / were 只是助动词，重点在后面的 watching、having，所以它们读得又快又轻。
什么时候读足？句尾和强调的时候：Yes, I was. / They WERE there, I saw them. 否定形式 wasn't、weren't 也从不弱读。

I was watching a movie.
我当时在看电影。
I was playing football.
我当时在踢球。
I was there when it happened.
事情发生时我就在场。
We were delighted with the results.
我们对结果非常满意。

我们玩得正开心，结果下雨了。
He was feeling much better last night.
他昨晚感觉好多了。
You were thinking that I was gonna have some terrible accident.
你以为我又要出什么大事故了吧。
Alex 提示：We were 弱读后是 /wiː wə/，两个 w 挨着，听起来像一个拖长的 we。听力里如果觉得少了个词，多半就是被读弱的 were。
