Music

(Do you like music? Can you play an instrument?),Part

01

be musically-inclined

Jacob is really musically-inclined. He can play so many instruments.
I'm not particularly musically inclined, but my younger sister picked up the piano in no time.
02

can't carry a tune

She has an awful voice and simply can't carry a tune.
I love going to karaoke with friends, even though I can't carry a tune to save my life.
03

open-air concert

Their open-air concert was a resounding success.
The most memorable performance I've seen was an open-air concert in a park, where thousands of people sang along under the stars.
04

be steeped in

The city is steeped in history and tradition.
描述家乡、古城、传统音乐时比 has a long history 高级。常见搭配:steeped in history / tradition / culture。
Traditional Chinese opera is steeped in history, so every gesture on stage carries a meaning.
05

be just another flash in the pan

The band rose to success suddenly and then disappeared just as quickly. It was just another flash in the pan.
flash in the pan 聊流行歌手、网红、潮流时特别好用,常说 just another / only a flash in the pan。
Many singers who go viral online turn out to be just another flash in the pan, because they lack real musical training.
Alex 提示:音乐话题里,musically inclined、can't carry a tune 最适合放进 Part 1 聊自己,说得轻松、带点自嘲就很自然;open-air concert 适合 Part 2 讲一次演出;flash in the pan 和 be steeped in 则可以在 Part 3 讨论流行音乐和传统音乐时拿来做对比。
